infection Control

At the Fresh Smile Seattle, we follow and exceed the recommendations of the CDC, OSHA, and WISHA, to offer our patients the most protective environment for all of your dental care. We pride ourselves routinely on extensive ongoing training protocols daily, monthly, quarterly, and annually. With the COVID-Pandemic we have continued our quest to further enhance our daily protocols to provide the highest level of safety for you, our wonderful patient, our staff. We installed UVC  lights for each operatories. Medical grade UVC lights are also part of the OSAKA Air aerosol suction system. All bacteria and viruses tested to date (many hundreds over the years, including various coronaviruses) respond to UV-C disinfection.

Engineering & Administrative Control

In addition to our enhanced aerosol protection procedures as described on our website, indoor air quality engineering professional redesigned our entire floor plan to further accommodate social distancing, enhanced our office air filtration system, staggered our appointment scheduling for less concentration of patients and staff in any one area of our office, and reinforced our staff and doctor PPE barriers, all to further enhance the protection of your experience. The future practice of dentistry in a safe environment can be envisioned in our practice. Dr. Zhang and our dedicated staff welcomes you back after "Shelter in Place" to service all of your dental needs. The adversity of the recent global events has led to a deep reflection of the doctors and staff and our need to be stronger and better than ever before for you, our patient.

Our entire focus in the COVID-19 Pandemic is finding techniques to improve the efficacy in the safety and protection of you, our wonderful dental patient, our staff and doctor.
We'll start using the VacuLUX HVE Adapter with DryShield high-suction evacuator for all of our aerosol producing procedures. It is very comfortable and relaxing for you, as the dental patient, to help stabilize your jaw and let the VacuLux evacuation system do all the work while we are performing our absolute best dental care for you. We reduce all airborne particles, including bacteria, viruses, blood, and saliva to make your dental appointment efficient and absolutely safe. When compared to other dental isolation procedures, like the rubber dam isolation technique used often in root canal procedures, we find the DryShield evacuation system to be very efficient.
In this COVID-19 Pandemic, we are looking to add confidence in the safety and protection for us all.
In the wake of the recent global pandemic, in addition to our ongoing strict guidelines with regards to CDC mandates and "universal precautions", we are pleased to announce additional layer of safety we have added to facilitate the care and protection of both our patients and our staff.
OSAKA Air aerosol suction pro, the Extraoral dental suction system provides additional high-volume removal of droplets and aerosols generated from dental procedures. With an extensive medical-grade HEPA H13 filtration system, along with a UV light disinfectant, viral and germ products will be eliminated.
From personal protection (safety eyewear/mask/gloves/fluid resistant wear) to complete sterilization of all instrumentation to infection control protocol in all operatories, laboratory, bathroom facilities, hallways, front office reception area, we are there to provide dental care in a safe and comfortable environment. We have extensive hand-washing & PPE wearing protocols for all staff members in place. We meet the highest standard in training, including monthly testing and a training session in OSHA compliance.
We are confident the extraoral dental suction is a great addition to our safety protocol.
HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. The higher the grade, the better the filter. HEPA H13-H14 are within the highest tier of HEPA and are considered medical grade quality.  HEPA H13 and H14 trap 99.95% and 99.995% of such particles, respectively. Medical grade HEPA filters are commonly used in pharmaceutical manufacturing and electronic control rooms because they have a greater particulate retention rate. This means medical grade HEPA filters are more efficient in removing harmful toxins and airborne with virus from the environment.
